| Dennis Lee Rasmussen Bats Left, Throws Left (Born April 18, 1959 in Los Angeles, California) was a starting pitcher for Major League Baseball's San Diego Padres (1983 and 1988-91), New York Yankees (1984-87), Cincinnati Reds (1987-88), Chicago Cubs (1992) and Kansas City Royals (1992-93 and 1995). He batted and threw left handed. In 1988 he recorded a 14-4 record while with the Padres tying him with Gaylord Perry for the team single season Won-Loss record (.778). Despite being the Yankees' top starter in 1986, the 6'7" Rasmussen was traded to Cincinnati for Bill Gullickson in August 1987. Originally drafted by the Pirates , Rasmussen was traded from the Padres to the Yankees in 1984 for Graig Nettles. The Padres got him back on June 8, 1988, in a deal for Candy Sierra, going 14-4 for San Diego and winning 10 of his frst 11 decisions for them. . After three good seasons with the Padres and stints with the Cubs and Royals, he finally retired after the 1995 season.
